IMMEDIATE DENTURES
IMMEDIATE DENTURES
After the 24-48 hour period, The Denture Place will take over your care. Having your teeth extracted and wearing a denture for the first time requires commitment and some perseverance.
You need to know what to expect.
1. You may have a feeling of bulk in your mouth. Do not worry this is normal and you will soon get used to this feeling.
2. You may feel as if you cannot talk clearly – With a little practice, your speech will return to normal.
3. You may feel as if you have too much saliva – This will dry up to a normal level in a few days.
4. You may experience a difficulty eating. Take smaller bites than normal. Go slowly and try eating with smaller amounts of food on both sides of the mouth. Eating with dentures is all about balance. With practice, you will soon be eating well.
5. Your gums will shrink very quickly over the next 12 months and your dentures will become loose. When this happens you will need the dentures relined. How many relines will depend on how much and how quickly your gums shrink. Most people need 2 relines, some require 3-4 relines. Relines are an additional cost and we will need your dentures back for a day.
Your first Denture will last anywhere from 2-6 years thereafter on average every 8 years.
